We are invited to join If Not Now’s event on Thursday, Oct 12—a time to be together.
Their letter:
As American Jews, many of us have Israeli family, friends, and organizing comrades – both Jewish and Palestinian – who are on the ground right now.
We have spent the last few days anxiously waiting to hear that our loved ones are safe, have exchanged messages from friends while they wait in bomb shelters, and are deeply grieving those who have lost their lives. Everyone seems to know someone who has been lost. We are heartbroken.
As the current situation in Israel/Palestine unfolds, it seems impossible to put into words what we are feeling and holding. We know it is an important time to be in community – for emotional processing, for gaining understanding and context, and for taking action.
On Thursday, October 12th at 8pm EST/5pm PST, we invite you to gather with other American Jews during this unprecedented time.
We will make space for the collective grieving we desperately need. And then together, we’ll unpack the history of apartheid that led to this moment and channel our grief towards a future where all Palestinians, Israelis and Jews are safe.
We hope to see you there.
In love and solidarity,
Morriah Kaplan
Managing Director
IfNotNowP.S. In a time of deep polarization, we’re guiding our community towards the only solution that will make us all safe: ending apartheid.
